Famous Brands honours top performing suppliers

Famous Brands recently hosted the Group‟s annual Supplier of the Year Awards at a glittering gala dinner at Vilamoura restaurant in Sandton. The Awards are held to pay tribute to the Group‟s top performing suppliers across a range of categories, namely: Specialist, Integrated, Distribution, Packaging, Dry Goods, Perishables and Development. Nominees are selected via a stringent process of facility audits conducted by SAFSIS (South African Food Safety Inspection Service), as well as a voting process undertaken by each business unit within Famous Brands. The final decision is made by Famous Brands‟ Pedja Turanjanin, Group Procurement and Quality Assurance Managing Executive, and his Procurement team. The winners in the various categories were: Audi Johannesburg (Specialist); Famous Brands Bakery (Integrated); Famous Brands Logistics (Distribution); Mondipak Corrugated (Packaging); Hudson & Knight (Dry Goods); Vulcan Catering Equipment (Development); Clover (Perishables) and Oceana (Lamberts Bay Foods) (Perishables). Selected from the winners of these categories, the overall main awards went to the following suppliers: Supplier of the Year – Oceana (Lamberts Bay Foods); Supplier of the Year, Development – Vulcan Catering Equipment; Key Accounts Manager of the Year – Greg Galatis (Clover). MEA Cupboards, Ink Spot and Šakota Family (Cresta Meats) were recognised with Famous Brands‟ Supplier Hall of Fame awards, which are awarded to Unspoken Hero suppliers who have consistently delivered good service to the Group over many years. The Key Accounts Manager of the Year, Greg Galatis of Clover, won an all expenses paid weekend away for two to Cape Town or Durban. 1.
